Dukes Award
What an amazing start to the Mini and Junior Dukes Award.
Over the last few months, 24 children from across the school have started their challenges. These range from cooking, shoe polishing, learning how to hand wash clothes, car washing, long walks, computer skills, learning new board games, reading rhymes, swimming, horse riding, writing, reading electricity meters and helping to save energy, independence and learning how to walk to a local supermarket, budgeting and learning how to buy specific items with a limited amount of money to spend, time management, caring for others (volunteering at the local Scout group), making model planes, vacuuming. The list goes on and from what I can see, the children are thoroughly enjoying learning new life skills. Well done to all the parents and carers who are making this possible.
Over the last couple of weeks, we were lucky enough to welcome Helen Walker (a nurse) into school and she helped to teach the children in KS2 some first aid and life saving skills as part of their first aid challenge.
