Forest School

Forest School has 6 guiding principles (above) that are at the heart of what we do.
On our school grounds we have an amazing space at the top of our field, in which our Forest School sessions take place. With a mix of trees and grassed area, all pupils have a chance to explore, create and play through the year.
In forest school sessions, children are encouraged to find things out for themselves, dig deeper and to be curious, as this is how they learn best. Work during forest school can link in to curriculum areas but offers a different approach to learning in a different environment to the classroom.
Children have the chance to develop a wide range of life skills such as collaboration, risk assessing, responsibility, problem solving, innovation, experimentation- to name a few.
The sessions takes place in all weathers, having the right clothing is essential to allow children to explore and feel free to immerse themselves in their environment. Building a connection with nature is huge part of supporting children in taking ownership and looking after the world around us. We can explore our relationships with those around us and ourselves in the space offered by nature. Forest School gives children a unique and creative side to their learning and development, it’s a pleasure to watch them Thrive in the forest.
