Year 1 & 2 (Key Stage 1)

In key stage 1 we focus on nurturing and developing happy, confident, independent learners through a broad, engaging and challenging curriculum. We build on the children’s previous learning experiences in EYFS, gradually introducing them to more formalised lessons allowing them to grow and reach their full potential.

We believe in the importance of learning through play and ensure children still have plenty of opportunities to learn through hands on experiences. We extend learning beyond the classroom, with effective use of our KS1 outdoor learning area, school woodland and the local area.



The holistic development of a learner is important to all staff working in key stage 1, we nurture and develop the intellectual, mental, physical, emotional, and social abilities in a child so that they are capable of facing the demands and challenges of future learning as they progress into key stage 2.
